A confession about Scarface

Alright, I confess already. I hadn't really seen Scarface until this past Saturday. I had seen bits and pieces when I was younger but I don't think I even remember seeing the whole movie.

All is ok now. I have purchased the DVD of the special edition and I watched it this past Saturday. Lets just say I was a fool. This film is great. Al Pacino's performance is superb. I now better understand so many modern phrases and puns that all tie into this fantastic film. Heck, it even makes Grand Theft Auto: Vice City that much more fun as the game totally rips off Scarface.

It is an absolute classic that should have been in my DVD collection years ago. The mistake has been rectified. I will punish myself later for the misdeed.

Please forgive me!

One of those days

Today was one of those days when half of the office called in sick or was on vacation. This was a fun day. Those of us that remained in the office took the day a little bit slower enjoying ourselves. Sure we did work, but we also did a lot of officer chatter. Even the boss of bosses was in on it a little bit. I went to lunch with some of the girls, and had one of my fellow co-workers laughing her ass off. Definitely a fun day. Oh, and even better...tomorrow is Friday!

And now for another random site from the Internet. I know many friends of mine have seen this link before but I came across the joys of showing it to someone new today. Definitely a fun site. Check it out for a good laugh.

Gmail and Privacy

I have spoken to a few people who are concerned about the privacy issues surrounding Gmail and always thought that most of those concerns are made by people who are uninformed or have inaccurate information. Recently, Google has posted a page detailing their privacy policy and clearing up much of the confusion by helping us understand which of the fact are true and what is fiction. If you are concerned about Gmail's privacy policy I suggest you visit the following site and read it thoroughly. In my opinion, it should alleviate any of your concerns.

Is Gmail Launching soon?

I'm starting to get that feeling that Gmail will be launching soon. I've been using it since early May and just recently I've been getting several invites. I invited many of my friends and then they all got several invites. In addition, I received even more invites. In the past two weeks alone I have probably received around 24 invites. Soon as I run out I seem to get more. This strongly leads me to believe that Gmail will be launching soon.

In addition, I can't believe how many people are interested in switching to Gmail. Heck, last time I wrote about it I had people asking me for invites. I'm sure people will see this one again and ask me for invites. Google has a gem on their hands.

For those of you that do request one, I'm not going to give one away just for the heck of it, you better come up with a good reason why or I won't bother. You can always try Gmailswap.com.

Two more films under the belt

So...this weekend I saw the two films The Chronichles of Riddick and The Terminal. They were ok but I wasn't crazy about either.

I loved Pitch Black so I was looking forward to Riddick. Unfortunately, the story fell quite short. It was a fun film action-wise and the character of Riddick was great. The story just wasn't panned out enough.

As for, The Terminal, it needed to actually have an ending. I just didn't like the way it ended. There are definitely some great moments in the film. It's worth the price of admition just to see the old Indian janitor who provides constant comic relief. He should star in his own film!

Rest of the weekend was good. Got to hang out with my roommate and my brother Dave. Our short film is coming along but the score still needs more work. Argh, I hope it is finished soon as I can't wait for people to see the finished product. It's too funny.

Gee...Clinton had to sleep on the couch...anyone surprised?

Does anyone actually believe that Bill Clinton slept on a couch? You mean to tell me that he couldn't find another bed in the White House to sleep on? I highly doubt that. He probably slept in the bed he used when he didn't want Hillary to know what he was doing. Ha, I like Bill but c'mon. I'm not going to buy that. Sure he didn't sleep with Hillary but on a couch? The President does not sleep on a couch, unless it's the couch shaped like a king size luxurious bed type of couch.

Ruby Falls

So on Saturday night my brother and I were invited to a new night club in NYC called Ruby Falls. We were invited to this after party for Kathy Hilton's (Paris Hilton's mom) new reality show The Good Life. Paris Hilton was there and so was Ice T.

The club it self was pretty cool inside with an interesting decor and an excellent DJ. Not to mention that the place was packed full of lovely women. They were obviously letting many more women then men (I'm not complaining). The bartenders were obviously new to bartending as they often didn't even know what beer they had on the menu!

Getting bottle service was cool because they would bring the bottles to the table with 4th of July type sparklers. Also, they had girls dancing in skin tight dresses that didn't have to leave much to the imagination.

Overall I'd say this place is kicking. My brother and I will be heading back there soon as our visit was unfortunately cut short due to a friend with a temper...but that's a story for another day.

A desperate attempt to get my friend listed

My friend and co-worker Sarah Sopab unfortunately does not come up at all on google's search engine. To solve this problem I figured I'd write a short blog about her. Sarah Sopab is the sweet and cool person who introduced me to the great film Battle Royale. I mentioned this film earlier and I figure the least I can do is give kudos to the cool girl who introduced me to it! Go Sarah!

Why Is New York Called The Big Apple?

I was recently pondering that question and I decided to do a little research. The best answer I found is actually several answers that I believe all contributed to New York being called The Big Apple. Follow the link bellow to learn an often pondered question.

Battle Royale

I recently saw the Japanese film Battle Royale. This film is a must see. If you haven't seen it...find it and see it. It's crazy. It reminded me a bit of the moving Running Man except that it is with young highschool students. Plus, the girl from Kill Bill Volume 1 is in it.

Warning this film is not for the light of hear!

Harry Potter Mania

Today is the day the new Harry Potter movie is released. I'm going to see it here in NYC. I've heard good things about it and that has me excited. The movies have been good so far. They don't quite live up to the book but they have been enjoyable. Hopefully this most recent addition will better capture the feel of the movie. What makes Harry Potter great is not just the story, but the details. The little intricacies make it such a joy to read.

Regardless, here's hoping for a great movie!

Memorial Day Weekend is over...:(

Well it was a good holiday. Short...but good. I certainly got a lot of work done. Our apartment has turned out nice and spiffy! Oh yeah, we have a cool apartment! I love it!!

Also...I saw a few movies this weekend. I saw The Day After Tomorrow. It was pretty cool but laughably stupid at times. I also saw Coffee and Cigarettes. That was really like eleven short films and only half of them were really worth watching. It was cool though. Bill Murray is great in that one.

I need to see Shrek 2. I can't believe how well it did in it's second weekend. 92 million in it's second weekend? Crazy!

Back to work...
