How do NYC Subways Compare with Tokyo's?

I recently came across an interesting series of articles at New York One's website in which they compare NYC Subways to Tokyo's. If you didn't know this, Tokyo's subway system is the busiest in the world and it's also much newer than NYC's. It's a very interesting read and also points to some of the distinct differences in the culture between the two nations. Would you believe that people actually wait in a formed single file line to board the subways in Tokyo? I'd like to see the MTA try and pull that off here in NYC.

Click here to give it a read. It's certainly interesting.

I'm in The New York Times

Interestingly enough, I donated $10 to the Mozilla foundation and that got my name listed in thier New York Times ad which just came out today. I'm listed with about 50,000 other names and it's pretty exciting. It's a really cool ad but the names are so small so break out your glasses! You can read an article about it on spreadfirefox.com.

Also, in exciting related news, FireFox has passed the ten million download mark and is still going strong. I hope to see much progress as the competition is good for the web browser market. Watch out Microsoft!

Project Honeypot

In the spirit of FireFox I thought I'd make a posting about another non-profit online organization that is making a difference fighting for more security on the web. It is an interesting project that is dedicated to fighting spam called Project Honeypot. Rather than restate what has already been written I'll leave you all with a quote from their web site.

"Project Honey Pot is the first and only distributed system for identifying spammers and the spambots they use to scrape addresses from your website. Using the Project Honey Pot system you can install addresses that are custom-tagged to the time and IP address of a visitor to your site. If one of these addresses begins receiving email we not only can tell that the messages are spam, but also the exact moment when the address was harvested and the IP address that gathered it."

Be sure to visit Project Honeypot and help fight spam!

If you are interested in helping to promote the FireFox web browser you might be interested in joining spreadfirefox.com. This site encourages the community to go out and push for the adaptation of the FireFox web browser. Be a geek like me and promote the web browser. It's a much better alternative to IE!
